Jio controversy
Reliance Jio has been mired in controversy since it launched free data and free voice call services on September 5 last year. Incumbent telecom operators like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have alleged Jio violated country's telecom rules. They also claimed telecom regulator TRAI has overlooked their complaints against Jio.
Reliance Jio has countered these charges and even alleged that incumbent telecom operators did not employ healthy competition practices. Jio had in past said that existing telecom operators denied it enough Points of Interconnection (PoIs) that barred Jio users from making outgoing calls to non-home networks.
