GST sees 22 states abolish checkposts

New Delhi: After GST implementation, some 22 states have abolished their checkposts. This will help in free movement of goods across the country.
Truckers used to lose a huge amount of time at checkposts to pay taxes and clear formalities. This will help them to save precious time and make it easier to move goods from one state to another.
GST seeks to covert India into a single market. Earlier each state had their own taxes which has now been subsumed in GST. GST was launched to make it easier to do business in the country.
The entry tax has also been subsumed in the new tax regime. States were check posts were abolished are AP, TS, UP, Bihar, Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Delhi among others.
Some eight states are in the process of abolishing the check points. States where check posts are in the process of being abolished are Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Punjab and Mizoram among others.
