Hyderabad: Hundreds of cases have been booked and lakhs of rupees collected in penalties from commercial establishments for GST and MRP violations.

Civil supplies commissioner C.V. Anand has created awareness among consumers to lodge GST related complaints by providing a WhatsApp number and toll-free numbers.

Once the anti-profiteering authority becomes active, consumers can reclaim the excess amount. Unclaimed refunds will be deposited in the Consumers Welfare Fund.

Principal secretary of commercial taxes, Somesh Kumar, said, “The authority has been recently constituted. Some logistic, office and staff issues need to be addressed to make it fully operational.”
