After food, prices of tea, coffee hiked in Parliament

Tea and coffee in the Parliament House complex with their prices hiked manifold to Rs 5 per cup.

New Delhi: After a hike in prices of food, now you will have to shell out more for tea and coffee in the Parliament House complex with their prices hiked manifold to Rs 5 per cup from March 11. Tea and Coffee boards have raised the prices. Earlier, it cost just Re 1 for a cup of tea offered by Tea Board but now it is Rs 5. Coffee price was earlier Rs 1.50 a cup.

Prices of food items in Parliament canteen were hiked from new year in varying degrees in view of controversies over the items being served there at subsidised rates. From January one, a veg thali which earlier cost Rs 18 is being sold for Rs 30 and non-veg thali at Rs 60 instead of Rs 33 earlier.

A three-course meal now costs Rs 90 instead of Rs 61 earlier. Prices of chicken and mutton curries have been increased to Rs 50 per plate from today while the cost of rice, dhal and subzi have been cut at the canteens run by the Northern Railway Catering Unit here. The price of rice, assorted dhal and subzi have been cut to Rs 7 per plate while that of raita has been reduced to Rs 5.
