Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer and Bobber launch by August end
Motorcycles were first displayed by the Piaggio at the 2016 Auto Expo, early this year.
After the launch of the Aprilia SR 150 sporty Scooter the Piaggio revealed its plans to launch the Piaggio-owned Moto Guzzi brand’s V9 Roamer and V9 Bobber motorcycles in India, at the end of August 2016. They were first displayed by the Piaggio at the 2016 Auto Expo, early this year.
When launched, the V9 Roamer and V9 Bobber will take on the Ducati Scrambler and the Triumph Street Twin. Both the motorcycles have been top-seller models in their segment. It’s just been a few months, since the Ducati Scrambler was launched and the Street Twin has become the top-selling model of the Triumph.
Piaggio is quite aware that the market for high-powered luxury cruiser motorcycles has been on the rise in India. So, the Italian manufacturer wants to cash in on the current market movement and make as much as possible out of it.
At the launch event of the Aprilia SR 150 scooter, Stefano Pelle, MD & CEO, Piaggio, said that the company had aimed at taking on the Ducati Scrambler and the Triumph Street Twin with the V9 Roamer and the V9 Bobber. And as cruisers, both these motorcycles will also rival the Harley Davidson Iron 883.
Both the V9 Roamer and V9 Bobber will be mobilized by an 850 cc, air-and-oil cooled, V-twin engine that will make 54 bhp and 62 Nm of torque and will come mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Imported as CBUs (Completely Built Units), the prices of these motorcycles are expected to be around Rs. 13.5 lakh. Bookings have also begun at some of the Piaggio’s multi-brand showrooms.
