Centre may merge Andhra Bank, PNB, OBC

The 51-year-old woman had been in a legal battle with Andhra Bank after it refused to pay the insurance claim. She had lost her husband in an accident in 2011 in a freak mishap.

Hyderabad: Following the decision to merge Bank of Baroda and Vijaya Bank with Dena Bank, the government is looking at Andhra Bank as a potential option for merger, says a report.

Quoting an unnamed source, the DNA Money report, said that the government is looking at three public sector banks for the next set of merger.

“The government is analysing the merger of PNB, OBC and Andhra Bank, as it wants few large banks in the country,” the source said.

The government is reportedly holding talks with officials to examine the feasibility of such a merger and will likely announce the move before December 31.

The report added that all regulatory process for the merger of BoB, Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank will be completed by FY19.
