SBI reminds to exchange cheques
Previously, the deadline was September 30 but SBI had extended it to December 31, 2017.
Hyderabad: In a bid to remind its customers, SBI tweeted that cheque books of six banks that merged with it will become invalid after March 31.
The account holders of the banks — State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, State Bank of Raipur, State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Hyderabad and Bharatiya Mahila Bank— will need to get their cheque books replaced.
Previously, the deadline was September 30 but SBI had extended it to December 31, 2017.
However, the bank said that customers of the merged banks can apply for new cheque books until March 31, 2018. To further ease the trouble, SBI said that the customers can either visit the bank branch or use the ATM or SBI’s mobile app to get a new cheque book. The bank informed its customers on its official Twitter account.
