New Delhi: Citing several research Dental Association of India (DAI) claimed that the herbal toothpaste brand Dant Kanti was the ‘most effective in anti-microbial action and reduction of dental plaque’ when compared with several other brands. National president, DAI, Dr Anil Dhalla gave accreditation and seal of acceptance to ‘Dant Kanti”.

The DAI claimed that more than 70 per cent population are suffering from periodontal and other diseases of oral cavity. “Every toothpaste manufacturer claims its end product to be the best. More astonishingly the countrymen who are using dental creams or toothpastes are consuming pesticides like triclosan and chemicals like Sodium monofluorophosphate and Mica.

“These chemicals if not added within required parameters can be hazardous not only for the user but are a great threat to environment,” said DAI. Dr Dhalla emphasised the need to regulate such false and misleading claims and companies should revive their products and produce brands best suited for Indian population.

“Indian herbs are in use since ancient times. They have very minimal or negligible adverse effects on human bodies and environment. The DAI got clinical and laboratory testing done on number of popular brands available in the market.

“The DAI got comparative study done on several popular brands and found Dant Kanti to be of better result in anti-microbial action, reduction of dental plaque and gingival inflammation and bleeding,” said Dr Dhalla.
