Arun Jaitley backs Arvind Subramanian after Subramanian Swamy's fire
Referring to the BJP's statement distancing itself from Dr Swamy's latest attack, he said even the party does not concur with Dr Swamy's views.
New Delhi: Finance minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday said that he has full confidence in chief economic advisor Arvind Subramanian.
“His advice to the government from time to time has been of great value,” Mr Jaitley rep-lied when asked for his reaction to Dr Swamy’s statement.
Referring to the BJP’s statement distancing itself from Dr Swamy’s latest attack, he said even the party does not concur with Dr Swamy’s views. “From the point of view of discipline of Indian politicians, to what extent should we attack those... discipline and constraints of office prevent them from respo-nding. And this has happened more than once.” Asked whether Dr Swamy should not be reined in, Mr Jaitley shot back: “Thank you for your suggestion.”
