Rupee down 9 paise against dollar in early trade

Forex dealers said strength in dollar against some other currencies overseas weighed on the rupee.

The rupee had recovered from one-month low to close 13 paise higher at 67.06 a dollar in yesterday's trade on the back of selling of the US currency by banks and exporters.

Mumbai: The rupee weakened by 9 paise to 67.15 against the dollar in early trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market on fresh demand for the American currency from importers.

Forex dealers said strength in dollar against some other currencies overseas weighed on the rupee but a higher opening in the domestic equity market capped the losses.

The rupee had recovered from one-month low to close 13 paise higher at 67.06 a dollar in yesterday's trade on the back of selling of the US currency by banks and exporters.

The benchmark BSE Sensex rose by 118.18 points or 0.42 per cent to 28,108.39 in early trade today.
