GST council meeting rescheduled

Three draft GST related laws were discussed on two days on 21st and 22nd November 2016 by officers from states and Centre.

Many states needed time to internally deliberate on revised draft of the laws within their respective state.

New Delhi: The GST council meeting scheduled for November 25 has been postponed to December 2-3 as states suggested changes in the model GST and compensation laws.

The government will bring these laws as money bill in Lok Sabha to bypass the Rajya Sabha if it feels that opposition plans to hinder its passage in Upper house where BJP doesn’t enjoy, said senior government officials.

Three draft GST related laws were discussed on two days on 21st and 22nd November 2016 by officers from  states and Centre. Many states needed time to internally deliberate on revised draft of the laws within their respective state.
Meanwhile, the Law Sub-Committee comprising of the officers of the states and the Centre has been now scheduled on Friday in order to finalise the draft laws.
