IDFC Aadhaar Pay to go live in Andhra Pradesh

A customer can pay the merchant with just two fields in the IDFC Aadhaar Pay app bank name and Aadhaar number.

New Delhi: The Centre will soon roll out Aadhaar Pay service that will enable people to make and receive payments using only their Aadhaar  number and thumb impression, said Ravi Shankar  Prasad said on Friday.

IDFC’s Aadhaar Pay went live on December 20, 2016 at a fair price shop in  Andhra Pradesh, inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. It was subsequently introduced to merchants in Delhi and Bihar.

The bank is now rolling it out nation-wide from this month. In IDFC, merchant’s phone is connected to a Standardization Testing and Quality Certification certified Aadhaar biometric reader. A customer can  pay the merchant with just two fields in the IDFC Aadhaar Pay app — bank name and Aadhaar
number.
