Hyderabad: IT and industries minister D. Sridhar Babu inaugurated the India capability centre of Zoetis, one of the world’s largest animal health companies, here on Tuesday. Sridhar Babu recalled that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and he had met the Zoetis' leadership during their recent US tour and the company had opened the capability centre within a short period.

Speaking at the event, Sridhar Babu said Zoetis' quick growth in Hyderabad was a testament to Telangana's emergence as a hub for specialised life sciences and technology talent. “The capability centre is set to create several hundred new high-skilled jobs by the end of 2025 and will leverage the local expertise to drive worldwide innovations in veterinary care,” he stated.

Keith Sarbaugh, chief information officer at Zoetis, said, " By tapping into India's world-class tech talent and vibrant start-up ecosystem, we're accelerating our ability to deliver cutting-edge solutions for veterinarians, pet owners and livestock farmers across the globe. Hyderabad will be crucial in driving our digital transformation and cementing our position as the tech leader in animal health."

Anil Raghav, vice-president and head of Zoetis India capability centre, said the global animal health market was projected to grow at a rate of four to six per cent in five to ten years, driven by increasing pet ownership, growing medicalisation of companion animals and rising global demand for animal protein.
