BSE to auction investment limits for Rs 9,358 crore govt bonds
The total investment in government debt (auction) has reached Rs 1,36,736 crore till July 21.
New Delhi: Leading stock exchange BSE will auction investment limits for overseas investors for the purchase of government debt securities worth Rs 9,358 crore on August 16.
The auction will be conducted on BSE's 'e-bidxchange' platform from 1530 hours to 1730 hours, after the close of market hours. The debt auction quota gives overseas investors the right to invest in the debt, up to the limit purchased.
"Live bidding session for allocation of debt investment limits for FII/FPI/Sub accounts shall be conducted on August 16, 2016," BSE said in a circular.
Besides, a mock bidding session would be conducted today in this regard. The total investment in government debt (auction) has reached Rs 1,36,736 crore till July 21, which was 94.96 per cent of total permitted limit of Rs 1.44 lakh crore, according to depositories data.
In an online auction conducted on July 25, the government debt securities had attracted bids to the tune of Rs 7,227 crore from foreign investors as against Rs 7,264 crore on offer.
To boost foreign flow, limit for overseas investors in central government securities has been increased from Rs 1.40 lakh crore to Rs 1.44 lakh crore from July 5. Earlier, this limit was hiked to Rs 1.40 lakh crore from April 4. Prior to that, the limit was Rs 1.35 lakh crore.
