Sensex pares early gains, ends 28 points up

The 30-share BSE barometer reclaimed psychological 29,000-mark intra-day to hit a high of 29,065.31.

The S&P BSE benchmark Sensex resumed higher at 27,997.29 and hovered between 28,477.65 and 27,919.89 before ending the week at 28,061.14, revealing a gain of 195.18 points or 0.70 per cent.

Mumbai: The Sensex pared early gains to close below the 29,000-mark today due to late sell-off on expiry of February series derivatives contracts. The 30-share BSE barometer reclaimed the psychological 29,000-mark intra-day to hit a high of 29,065.31.

However, offloading of positions following expiry of February series in the derivatives segment led the index to a low of 28,860.46, before it finally ended 28.26 points, or 0.10 per cent higher at 28,892.97.

The 50-share NSE Nifty ended up by 12.60 points, or 0.14 per cent, to 8,939.50 after shuttling between 8,982.15 and 8,927.55.
