Top nine companies add Rs 30,034 crore in market valuation

Over the last week, the Sensex and the Nifty recorded gains by rising 403.58 points and 109.65 points respectively.

Barring RIL, rest nine companies, including HDFC Bank, ONGC and SBI saw rise in their market capitalisation (m-cap) for the week ended Friday.

New Delhi: Nine of the 10 most valued Indian companies together added Rs 30,034.14 crore to their market valuation last week, with IT major TCS topping the chart. Barring RIL, rest nine companies, including HDFC Bank, ONGC and SBI saw rise in their market capitalisation (m-cap) for the week ended Friday.

The m-cap of TCS surged by Rs 12,374.28 crore to Rs 4,78,557.83 crore, emerging as the biggest gainer among the top-10 firms. SBI's valuation zoomed Rs 5,045.81 crore to Rs 2,00,590.16 crore and that of ONGC jumped Rs 2,951.64 crore to Rs 2,39,553.72 crore.

The m-cap of HDFC soared Rs 2,740.28 crore to Rs 2,11,698.59 crore and that of Infosys went up by Rs 2,457.74 crore to Rs 2,38,445.83 crore. HDFC Bank added Rs 2,265.61 crore to Rs 3,23,384.58 crore in its valuation. Similar was the case with HUL whose m-cap swelled Rs 1,980.31 crore to Rs 1,84,201.42 crore.

The valuation of CIL moved up by Rs 157.91 crore to Rs 1,97,891.70 crore and ITC added Rs 60.56 crore to Rs 2,90,495.76 crore. On the other hand, RIL suffered a loss of Rs 4,460.29 crore to Rs 3,45,211.26 crore in its market valuation.

In terms of ranking, TCS was at the top spot followed by RIL, HDFC Bank, ITC, ONGC, Infosys, HDFC, SBI, CIL and HUL. Over the last week, the Sensex and the Nifty recorded gains by rising 403.58 points (1.45 per cent) and 109.65 points (1.27 per cent) respectively.
