Young cricketers cheated on social networking site
Around 33 players fell prey to fraud announcement IPL selection trials.
Rajkot: Young cricketers across the country were shocked after reaching the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) stadium on Friday.
Around 33 players, with the hope of a chance to play in the recently-launched Rajkot IPL team realised they were cheated by an announcement on a social networking site.
A person, identified as Raju Ram, created a page on Facebook and announced there will be team selection on January 15-17.
Ram also declared the fees ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 3,000 for the trials.
The SCA officials had to convince the cricketers that no trials were organised and it was a hoax.
The cricket aspirants came from Delhi, Noida, Pune, Nagpur, Surat, Mumbai and Kerala.
The boys were asked to transfer the amount to the mentioned bank account to be eligible for selection.
The cricketers were also promised certificates.
