Mel McLaughlin asks Mark Waugh out for a drink?
The reporter mistakenly calls the veteran Damien Fleming, does damage control.
Melbourne: Television reporter Mel McLaughlin – currently seen in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) – turned heads after West Indies star Chris Gayle asked her out for a drink. The controversial chat, now popularly known as the “Don’t blush, baby” interview invited criticism from all quarters and the Jamaican had to pay Rs 10,000 USD as penalty.
Few days after the incident, McLaughlin has now come under scanner on social media for her comments made during a panel discussion during the tournament.
Mark Waugh shouldn't have to put up with being propositioned for a drink at work by Mel McLaughlin. Unacceptable. #dontblushjunior #BBL

The lady, who sat with former Australia cricketer Mark Waugh and English cricketer Kevin Pietersen, mistakenly referred Waugh as Damien Fleming.
#BBL05 @channeltennews @CricketAus did @Mel_Mclaughlin just ask Mark Waugh for a drink? I think he blushed a little. Where's her 10k fine?

And that’s not all, here comes the catch. She did damage control saying: “I will buy you a drink,” which didn’t go well with the fans.
Because offering to buy a colleague a drink and deliberately asking someone out and calling them baby is the same https://t.co/0O5EnbwGyx

The little bit of casual flirting almost landed Gayle being banned from BBL and worldwide. Former cricketer Ian Chappell called for his ouster as well and here, McLaughlin took a leaf out of the Jamaican’s book.
Will she be fined too?
