Mumbai: Former South Africa cricketer Gulam Bodi has been banned for 20 years by Cricket South Africa after he confessed having tried to fix matches in the country’s domestic Twenty20 competition in 2015.
Roots in Gujarat
Bodi was born in Hathuran – a village in Gujarat (India), 42 km from Surat. His family shifted base to South Africa during his teenage days.
IPL stint
Bodi was included in the Delhi Daredevils team in 2012. He is an all-rounder.
Under-19 World Cup
The left-arm batsman, also a chinaman bowler, played for South Africa in the Under-19 World Cup in 1998.
National debut
Bodi scored a half-century (51) in his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2007. He played only two ODIs in his career.
T20 World Cup
Bodi was part of the Proteas squad in the inaugural ICC World T20 in 2007, which India won under Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
