Hyderabad: The Madannapet police busted a contract marriage on Tuesday and arrested three persons including two Somalians.   The duo who came to Hyderabad nearly three months ago on a medical visa planned to marry a city girl and approached an agent.

Santosh Nagar ACP V. Srinivasulu, who is investigating the case said that the accused Ali Ali Mohammed, 56, came to Hyderabad three months ago on a medical visa and it had expired. His son had to undergo treatment at a city hospital and he was accompanying him.

“Ali decided to marry a city girl and met Ismail, who was living in Hyderabad for the past 20 years and with his help met two other agents Parveen of Falaknuma and Anwari of Edi Bazaar,” he said. They arranged the marriage with Shahaja Begum of Rein Bazaar and it was scheduled for Tuesday. They agreed to pay Rs 1 lakh to her family. The ACP said that Shahaja had six siblings. After her father died, her mother was running the house and the family was in extreme poverty.

“This is the reason she decided to marry the old man,” he said. A case of cheating was registered and the police arrested Ali Ali Mohammed, Ismail and Anwar. A hunt is on for Parveen.
