Minor's rape: 2 sentenced

Belagavi: A woman and her paramour, who raped her minor daughter repeatedly, have been sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment in Belagavi. The girl had lodged a complaint with the Ankali police on May 2, 2013, alleging that her mother forced her to have a physical relationship with the boyfriend for over two years.

“It was only at the instance of my mother that Appasab Koli repeatedly sexually assaulted me,” she stated. Based on her complaint, the police had registered a case against Appasab and her mother Shobha Hadalgi. The court found both guilty and referred the girl to the Legal Services Authority to provide a compensation for her. The prosecution said that Shobha had an extramarital affair with Appasaheb for several years, which her husband, a driver, was not aware of.
