Class 5 boy held for killing six-year-old in Tirupur

Tirupur: In a shocking case of school juvenile violence, a class 5 student of a private school in Tirupur was arrested on charges of murdering a class 1 student on Wednesday.

The tragedy unfolded as the victim, a bare toddler, six-year-old Sivaram of class 1, was teased by a group of class 5 students when the former went
to the toilet in the morning before classes began.  

The verbal friction suddenly snowballed into ugly violence when the accused class 5 boy attacked the toddler with a stone. The boy fainted on the spot with injuries on his head and died shortly later.

Even as teachers spotted the fainted boy, parents and relatives of the young boy besieged the school premises on coming to know of the incident. Police personnel rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the crowd.

The deceased boy's body was first taken to the Tirupur Central police station and then sent for post-mortem at the Tirupur headquarters government hospital. Meanwhile, police began investigations immediately and after an inquiry with the students, they arrested an 11-year-old boy who allegedly attacked the Class I boy. Further investigations are on and the arrested boy would be sent to an observation home.
