DV Sadananda Gowda stops by the Church
Sources said various subjects including the upcoming polls in the state were discussed.
Kochi: In further indication of the BJP cosying up to Church in the state, union law minister D. V. Sadananda Gowda called on Syro Malabar Church head Cardinal Mar George Alencherry at the Major Archbishop's house here on Saturday.
“The BJP has now gained acceptance at many areas not welcomed earlier in the state. We didn’t discuss politics but issues of common interest,” Mr Gowda said after the half-an-hour discussion.
Sources said various subjects including the upcoming polls in the state were discussed and that certain promises were made to the Church.
However, Cardinal Alencherry refused to give any assurance related to politics but shared his concern over communal incidents and hate campaigns at many parts of the country, sources said.
