5 students unions call state bandh

Hyderabad: Reacting angrily to the suicide of HCU research scholar Rohit Vemula, student unions have called for a state-wide bandh of educational institutions on Monday.
The Students Federation of India, All India Students Federation, Progressive Democratic Students Union and the Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika alleged that Rohit had died on due to the discrimination towards Dalit students.
SFI alleged that 14 students had been rusticated at the behest of Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya. It said an SC/ST Atrocities Act case should be slapped against the VC.
Congress former MP G. Vivek demanded stern action against those responsible for the student’s death.
