No coordination in laying roads, observes Supreme Court
The PIL wanted court's intervention on the failure of civic agencies in laying proper roads.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday observed that there is no coordination among civic agencies and the contractor on laying the roads in the country.
Hearing a public interest litigation, the Chief Justice T.S. Thakur said “While one lays the road, the other digs it for laying water pipes. However, the court can’t go into this issue, only the government concerned can look into it.” The PIL wanted court’s intervention on the failure of civic agencies in laying proper roads.
The CJI said, “ We agree that there is no coordination between one agency and the other. It is happening everywhere. Efficient government should tackle that problem. We are not going to monitor digging roads also? What will happen to other important cases. Get hold of the MLA/MP or the corporator. Ask them to devise a mechanism.”
