Chandrasekhar Rao goes shopping, orders 100 pairs of khadi clothes
Mr Rao has been a regular customer of the shop since 1990.
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday went shopping, and picked up white khadi cloth for 100 shirts and 100 trousers. The CM paid Saibaba, owner of the Sri Sai Khadi Vastralaya at Hyderguda Rs 1 lakh as advance for his purchase, the final settlement pending till the clothes are stitched.
Mr Rao has been a regular customer of the shop since 1990 and also gets his clothes tailored by Saibaba. The Chief Minister was a client of Saibaba’s late father, Mankiyam. “KCR regularly comes and picks up Pondur variety of cloth. But this was the first time he was visiting since he became the CM. He also likes Bengal, Bihar cotton and khadi. Today he picked up white khadi cloth of famed Pondur variety of Srikakulam for 100 shirts and 100 pants,” Saibaba told this newspaper.
He revealed that each shirt would cost around Rs 1,000 and the trousers Rs 2,000 each. “The final amount will be informed to him after stitching and discount,” Saibaba revealed. Saibaba said that Mr Rao was known to the family since 1984 and he used to get stitched clothes from Manikyam who had a tailoring shop at Koti.
He added that besides Mr Rao, his other VIP clients include home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy, TS Assembly Speaker Madhusudhana Chary and TS Legislative Council chairman Swami Goud.
