Kochi to partner LSG forum

KOCHI: Carl Wright, secretary-general of the UK-based Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) which is working to promote and strengthen democratic local self-governments across the Commonwealth, visited the city on Tuesday and held discussions with deputy mayor T. J. Vinod.

The discussions focused on making Kochi a partner of CLGF initiatives.
As part of the CLGF programme to encourage exchange of best practices among cities through conferences, projects and research, Kochi and Cardiff city in UK had a partnership agreement from 2007 to 2009.

CLGF regional director Anuya Kuwar, (programme officer, Asia), CLGF programme coordinator Dr. Rajan Chedambath, KILA (Kerala Institute of Local Administration) director P. P. Balan and corporation officials also attended the meeting.
