Andhra Pradesh govt to offer jobs to Rohith Vemula's kin
On behalf of the party, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu offered Rs 5 lakh to the family.
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government said on Wednesday it would offer jobs to the family of Rohith Vemula, the research scholar at Hyderabad Central University who committed suicide on Sunday.
State social welfare minister Ravela Kishore Babu said the ruling Telugu Desam Party had also offered Rs 5 lakh as ex-gratia to the family.
“On behalf of the party, the chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu offered Rs 5 lakh to the family. And on government’s behalf, we will be providing a contract teacher’s job to Rohith’s brother who is doing MSc. We will also give Rohith’s mother a job appropriate for her qualifications,” Ravela told PTI.
The minister and some TDP leaders visited Vemula’s mother and offered condolences to the family on Wednesday.
