Manohar Parrikar dismisses ISIS threat to him, Narendra Modi
The Goa Secretariat had received a letter threatening to kill Modi and Parrikar.
New Delhi: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday dismissed talk of any threat from the Islamic State to his life or that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Last week, an anonymous postcard claimed to have been sent by terror group IS threatening to kill Prime Minister Modi and Parrikar was received at the Goa Secretariat.
When asked about it by reporters, Parrikar was dismissive about any threat to him or Modi, saying "It (the threat) was (issued) on a 50 paise postcard."
Goa Police has circulated the letter to all police stations in the state and handed over the case to its Anti- Terrorist Squad.
"All the agencies of state police are investigating this letter. We will soon be able to find the source of it," a police official had said.
"ISIS was written at the bottom of the postcard," the official had confirmed.
The letter had expressed anger over ban on cow slaughter in the country.
