Hyderabad: Making it clear that MIM was not against the Metro Rail for Hyderabad Old City, party star campaigners Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi told voters that their party will pressurise the TRS government to take up Metro works immediately.

It may be recalled that there were reports that the MIM has been opposing the Metro Rail corridor 3 from Jubilee Bus Station to Falaknuma passing through Charminar in the Old City. The Owaisi brothers have been vigorously campaigning in the Old City for the past five days.

They have clarified the earlier reports, saying that they were not against the Metro, but have suggested an alternative route via Puranapul, Bhadurpura and Kalapathar to Shamshabad. While Asaduddin Owaisi is telling voters that they will put pressure on the government to take up the works of the Metro in the Old City, Akbaruddin Owaisi has been promising the voters of Chandrayangutta area that his party also proposed a new corridor from L B Nagar via Santoshnagar, Owaisi Hospital, Chandrayanagutta and Salala in Barkas to Jalpally.

Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi is also explaining to voters that their proposal is under examination by the government and also by Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd. Soon after the elections his party will put pressure on the government to start survey to assess the feasibility of  the Metro in the proposed route.
