Roorkee: With four suspected terrorists being nabbed by the security agencies from Haridwar recently, a Madrassa in Roorkee has banned the use of social media and mobile phones to check extremism from spreading.
The Madrassa, Imamdul Islam, has also imposed restrictions on the use of internet in its premises and also put up pamphlets on its walls stating the same.
The Imamdul Islam's chief, Maulana Nawab Ali, has also urged the Madrassa's faculty to exercise restraint on using the social media sites and urged the parents of the students to monitor their children's internet usage.
"Have asked parents to keep an eye on their children's social media activites so that they don't get misled by extremists," he said.
The move has been taken to prevent young minds at the Madrasssa from being influenced by the radical ideology of the groups like ISIS.
