BJP, Congress declare candidates for Feb 13 bypolls in Karnataka
The last date for filing of nominations is on Wednesday and the last date for withdrawal is January 30.
New Delhi: BJP and Congress on Tuesday declared their candidates for the February 13 bypolls in Karnataka and other state assemblies.
The last date for filing of nominations is on Wednesday and the last date for withdrawal is January 30.
BJP has fielded former MLA Prakash Khandre from the Bidar assembly seat, former MLA Shivanagouda Naik from the Devadurga (ST) assembly seat and MLC Y A Narayana Swamy from the Hebbal seat in Karnataka.
On the other hand, Congress fielded Rahim Khan from Bidar, Rajashekhar Naik from Devdurga and Rehman Sharief from Hebbal assembly seats, after Congress President Sonia Gandhi cleared their names.
BJP chief Amit Shah has also cleared the name of former MLA Narayan Tripathi for contesting the Maihar assembly seat in Madhya Pradesh and Ranjeet Das as party candidate for the Amarpur assembly seat in Tripura for the upcoming bypolls.
