Striking out plus-2 answer sheets will attract 2-year ban
Pvt school students who aspire for engineering and medical seats are striking out their answer sheets if the paper is relatively difficult.
Chennai: Students who strike out all the pages of the plus-2 exam answer sheets will be barred for 2 years from appearing in the exams.
“Many students from Namakkal, Erode and Karur areas are striking out all their answer sheets and applying for the instant exam, which is conducted in June and is relatively easier than the March exam. To prevent this scenario, we have decided to ban those students who strike out all the pages on their answer sheets,” D. Vasundra Devi, Director of Government Exams said.
“Last year alone the number of students striking out their answer sheets rose significantly. So to prevent this we have taken a decision and will issue the circular very soon,” she added.
Private school students who aspire for engineering and medical seats are striking out their answer sheets if the paper is relatively difficult.
By doing this, they make themselves eligible for the instant exams, a government school headmaster said.
“If the students are not able to score closer to 200 marks they will strike out the answer sheets and get 0 marks. It makes them eligible for appearing for the instant exams instead of passing the tougher exam with lower marks, he added.
Students who pass the instant exams can participate in the next year’s medical and engineering counseling as there is no bar on them from doing this, professors explained.
The rules for this year will be known only after the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions committee (TNEA) coordination meeting, they said.
