Nabam Tuki opposes President's Rule in Arunachal, files fresh petition in SC
SC has sought Centre's response by Friday to a petition by Congress on imposition of President's Rule in Arunachal.
New Delhi: Former Arunachal Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Thursday filed a fresh petition in the Supreme Court challenging imposition of President's Rule in the state.
Earlier, the apex court issued notices to the Centre and the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh (J.P. Rajkhowa), seeking their responses to a Congress Party challenge of the Centre's decision to impose President's Rule in the state.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Thursday said the 'responsible' ruling dispensation has performed its duty based on the ground realties and ground report in the state.
"We shouldn't politicize this issue. Our priority is to ensure that there is a stable government in Arunachal which works for the development of the people. If some constitutional crisis has arisen then it is also the Centre's responsibility to fix the same," he said.

A five-judge constitution bench headed by Justice J.S. Khehar has asked the centre for reasons for the cabinet's decision to impose president's rule. The governor has been asked to tell the court about when he made the recommendation for president's rule.
The Supreme Court bench posted the matter for February 1, and asked the governor and the Union Home Ministry to file responses by Friday on the petitions filed by Congress leaders, including one by Rajesh Tacho, chief whip of the Congress Legislature Party in the state Assembly, which is now under suspended animation.
The Cabinet on January 24 recommended President's Rule in the state which was approved by President Pranab Mukherjee the next day.
