CM Jagan to Open New AP Medical Colleges on Friday

VISHAKHAPATNAM: Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy will open five medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh on Sept 15, Friday. He will inaugurate the Vizianagaram medical college at a function there and open the Rajahmundry, Eluru, Machilipatnam and Nandyal medical colleges by press of a button in online mode.

All these medical colleges will take new admissions and start functioning full-scale from the 2023-2024 academic year. Official sources said the chief minister would address a public meeting in Vizianagaram after inaugurating the medical college. Later, he would inaugurate the other four colleges.

The chief minister had promised to establish a medical college in every district to increase the number of medical professionals and improve the quality of health services in the state. He had planned 17 medical colleges with an estimated budget of Rs 8,480 crore.

Buildings with infrastructure have been completed in Rajahmundry, Eluru, Machilipatnam and Eluru. Each medical college will have an intake of 150 students. The two phases of NEET counseling have been completed and 69 students admitted so far.
