Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2015 December blockbuster Bajirao Mastani has struck gold at the National Awards with 7 wins in various categories.

Sonam Kapoor, who attended an award function early in the evening, made it a point to attend Bhansali's bash.
Actress Rekha also made her presence felt at the bash.
Bajirao Mastani has also earned five other awards-- best supporting actress honour for Tanvi Azmi, best choreography for Remo D'Souza, best cinematogrpahy, production design, re-recordist.
Bhansali, however, never anticipated a National award. \"With 'Bajirao Mastani' we have created history now. I am too thrilled to receive the honour,\" he said.
\"This is my first National Award as a director. It is really very special to me. My mother always prayed that I should get one and here I get it. Her prayers are answered,\" Sanjay told reporters. \"People from unknown numbers kept calling me I just picked up one such call and they asked me to give a reaction on winning the National award. Then my mother just screamed. Her happiness means a lot to me,\" he added.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali says his National award as director for 'Bajirao Mastani' is \"very special\" because the win has fulfilled his mother's longstanding wish.
SRK celebrated with Bhansali at the restaurant before heading back home. The actor is currently shooting for 'Raees' and is all set to release 'Fan'.
Shah Rukh was one of the many stars who sent out their good wishes to Bhansali for Bajirao Mastani's triumphant streak at the National Awards.
Although Shah Rukh locked horns with Bhansali at the box-office last December by releasing his film 'Dilwale', there is clearly no bad blood between the two.
Shah Rukh Khan also made it a point to attend Bhansali's success bash.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has bagged the 'Best Director' award for his work on the periodic love story 'Bajirao Mastani' that starred Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.
Although 'Devdas' is regarded as one of Bhansali's finest works, it didn't win him a National Award.
Aishwarya, who was at another event early in the evening, made it a point to show Sanjay her support.

Although Ranveer lost out on the Best Actor award to Amitabh Bachchan, he was happy with the overall success of the film.
