Bobby Islam Gets Death Threats Over Whatsapp Call

Indian movie writer and director Bobby Islam took to the Dargah bazaar police station in Orissa to seek help on Wednesday, having reported receiving death threats over a WhatsApp call. The thugs threatened Islam while keeping him unbeknownst of the person behind the calling number, later declaring that he works with actor Manoj Mishra.

In the recorded police statement, Mr. Manoj Mishra spoke as though he owned Bobby Islam and at the same time ordered him not to speak poorly about him. Mr. Islam was worried for his life and said in a statement, “In case anything happens to me, Manoj Mishra along with his crew should be the first targets for accusations.”

In his interview, Bobby Islam’s threats were also covered in the media. Mr Islam stated, “An individual’s number bearing the Truecaller ID Sabar Soumyaranjan called me and warned that I would be shot dead if I continued to insult the hero, Irani Dada.” Last week, the same officer of the Dargah Bazaar station called me and reported to me about the affair.

These claims of his have been made in the backdrop of actor Manoj Mishra who continues to be mired in controversies. On November 12, the Odisha Film & Television Directors’ Association lodged a complaint against the actor for making certain social media remarks which were brought to the notice of the world at large by the actor himself.

Currently, neither the actor Manoj Mishra, nor the police from the area where the act was performed have bothered to form any official statements over the accusations raised by Bobby Islam or the FIR. The episode has further deepened the existing conflict in the Odia film and video industry between the artists and the filmmakers. It is only time that will determine how this saga progresses and whether the authorities will shed more light on this issue.
