Alia likes to focus on issues much closer to home

With his collaborations, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has done a lot towards bettering the relationship between India and Pakistan.

When we ask his daughter, actress Alia Bhatt, about her take on the issue, she says, “My dad has been instrumental in collaborating with Pakistani filmmakers… bringing actors/singers to India in order to improve ties between the two countries. I think he stands up for the Muslim community a lot. His mother was a Muslim.”

However, she says she has other priorities. “But I can’t relate to this cause. I have been connected to other causes — animal safety, children’s welfare and their education. I feel strongly about these issues. Whatever comes from the heart, one can take it a long way,” she says.
