Varun Dhawan’s unconditional support to the team of his upcoming film Dishoom has made it very easy for the film’s makers, Eros, to plan promotions around him. Varun had apparently told Eros before the promotions began that he would be there no matter where he was needed. So considering his support, it came as no surprise when the actor decided to take a promotional trip to the by-lanes of Mohammad Ali Road on Wednesday night to enjoy some amazing Ramadan delicacies. However, it seems there is more to this trip than just film promotions.

A source told us, “When Varun Dhawan was travelling in Nagpur he shared some childhood memories with the team. He told them about how during his school and college days he would often go to Mohammad Ali Road and eat street food and how he misses those days as after becoming a known face, it has become very difficult for him to roam freely on the streets. When asked if he would like to go there again, Varun said that the biggest issue was security and he was worried that others who go there would face inconvenience due to his presence.”

With the idea of merging Varun’s wish and promotional activities together, the team at Eros conducted a recce of the area and made a plan that would make it convenient for Varun to step into any restaurant, enjoy the meal and also have an informal chat with the media. The brief was simple — others should not face trouble because of his presence on the streets.

Once the plan was ready, it was discussed with Varun and he immediately gave his nod. “A restaurant was already reserved and a way was chalked out for Varun’s entry and exit. He was accompanied by his director-friend Shashank Khaitan (who is making Varun’s upcoming film Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya). Once there, Varun hogged on his food favourite, chicken, and relived his old memories. He shared anecdotes about how he would come to these streets with his friends on a regular basis,” the source added. After he got out from the restaurant, he decided to make an impromptu stop at J.J. Flyover, which offers a lovely view of the city. Produced by Eros and Nadiadwala, Varun’s Dishoom is all set to release on July 29.
