Vidya Balan was last seen as a police officer in 'Te3n'.

Mumbai: Vidya had only one release this year, a special appearance as a police officer in Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Te3n’, after ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahani’ last year and fans of the actress are eagerly awaiting to see her back in a full-fledged role.

Vidya, who is known to be choosy about her roles, will, however, have two releases in the span of two months towards the end of the year. While her much anticipated ‘Kahaani 2’ is gearing up for release on November 25 this year, another of her film, ‘Begum Jaan’, will release on 6 January 2017. Milind Dabke, head of Play Entertainment, the producers of the film, confirmed the release date and said that the film will be released on a wide scale.

The film is likely to be the first big release of the year if it manages to be a solo release.

The story of the film is about oppression faced by women in a brothel during the Partition period, with Vidya playing the madam of a brothel. The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Rajat Kapoor, Gauahar Khan, Pallavi Sharda, Chunky Pandey among others and is directed by Srijit Mukherji.
