Padmavati shooting commences in Mumbai with 'Alauddin' Ranveer Singh
The actor will be seen alongside Deepika Padukone, who'll play the eponymous queen and Shahid Kapoor as her husband.
Mumbai: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavati' is amongst the most eagerly awaited films in recent times.
The magnum opus, which stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles, is being produced on a mammoth budget.
Shooting for the film, has officially commenced in Mumbai's Film City with Ranveer Singh. Shobha Iyer Sant, CEO of Bhansali Productions, tweeted a picture of the clapboard, much to the excitement of the fans.
While Deepika will be seen playing the eponymous Padmavati, Shahid will be portraying her husband, King of Mewar, Raja Rawal Ratan Singh. Ranveer Singh will be playing the antagonistic Alauddin Khilji, who besotted by the queen, lays siege on Chittor, in pursuit. The film will also star Aditi Rao Hydari as Kamala Devi, Alauddin's wife.
The film is slated to release on November 17, 2017.
