Pakistani actors are helpless: Swara Bhaskar
Swara Bhaskar said Pakistani actors are in a helpless state to react to the ongoing tension with India..
Mumbai: At the 7th Jagran Film Festival, actress Swara Bhaskar, who won ‘Best Actress’ for her role in the film ‘Nil Battey Sannata’, expressed her opinion revolving around Pakistani actors working in India.
“Art and artists should not be attached to politics. Pakistani artistes are in a vulnerable position; they are helpless… Keeping in mind that just three months ago, one of Pakistan’s best-known singers, Amjad Sabri, was gunned down by the terrorists,” Swara said.
Swara, who has earned critical acclaim for her roles in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ and ‘Ranjhanaa’, feels that Pakistanis are suffering just as Indians are. “I think the people of Pakistan themselves are also a victim of terrorism,” added the actress who had been to Pakistan a couple of times.
After Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) gave a 48 hours ultimatum to Pakistani actors to leave India, Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has now banned Pakistani artists and technicians as they were unhappy about the fact that none of the Pakistani actors condemned the Uri attacks.
Swara, who will soon start shooting for ‘Veere Di Wedding’, praised the government and army for tackling the situation the way they are.
She further added, “The entire issue (Uri attack) is very emotional for us. The way the soldiers have been killed is very much shameful. At this moment, the entire country is grief-struck and fuming as well. This is quite justified. We have a responsible government and army. They are doing their work rightfully and we should let them tackle the situation.”
Celebrities like Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Karan Johar and Ranbir Kapoor have expressed their views on the current situation between both the nations.
