'Coffee with D' team gets threats

The cast and crew of upcoming political satire, Coffee With D has triggered off a chain reaction. The movie is purportedly based on gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s imagined encounter with journalist Arnab Goswami.
Apparently, key members of the movie’s team have been getting threatening calls from Dubai, asking questions about the film. A cast member, on the condition of anonymity, admitted that some members of the team, including leading man Sunil Grover, Zakir Hussain, and writer-director Vishal Mishra have indeed been getting calls from Dubai.
“Though Dawood Ibrahim has not been named in our film, reports that it consists of a character based on him have reached him,” says the source. “Some of us have been getting threatening calls demanding to know why we made a film on him without his permission. We have, in fact, not named him in our movie anywhere. We’ve only referred to Zakir’s character as D. But now, fearful of repercussions, we may even change the name of the character entirely.” Incidentally, the Central Board of Film Certification had no problems certifying Coffee With D without any cuts with a U/A certification.
