Can't find producers, says Rajat Kapoor
It may come across as a surprise to many, but Rajat says he's seen this before.
His last directorial venture, Ankhon Dekhi, was not just critically acclaimed but even bagged many awards. However, even as he is currently promoting his movie Mantra, director-actor Rajat Kapoor reveals that he’s not been able to find producers for his next movie.
He says, “I can’t find money. I’m trying to make my next film, and my script is ready, but I can’t find a producer. I know Ankhon Dekhi did well, but producers aren’t willing to put in money.”
It may come across as a surprise to many, but Rajat says he’s seen this before.
“It’s always difficult to find money for an independent filmmaker. For me, it’s been a struggle. Surprisingly, outsiders have funded my films and not studios, because I don’t think studios can understand independent cinema at all. So there has always been an alternate source of finance for me and not the regular industry sources,” he explains.
