Akki’s suicide statement is insensitive
Fitness-freak ‘Khiladi Kumar’ finds himself in a knot with his comments on those who don’t keep fit
Akshay Kumar, who’s so often seen leaning towards the right-wing government, also lets it slip once in a while. A video going viral on social media, in which he can be seen and heard, is one such instance of the slip. While the said clip is a small part of a larger video about fitness, Akshay can be heard unwittingly saying that people who’re not into fitness should end their lives. And then he goes on to reiterate that rather carelessly.
In the clip, Akshay can be heard saying, “Jo insaan din ke 24 ghante mein se apne shareer ko ek ghanta na de sake use mar jaana chahiye (Anyone who cannot give 1 hour from the 24 hours of a day to their body should die). Kill yourself!”
Obviously, these words have not gone down well with netizens, especially at a time when everyone’s taking note of depression and what their role models say about those things.
“I will mention Akshay Kumar in my suicide note,” said a Twitter user.
“This Fake Nationalist Akshay Kumar now promoting suicide and self-harm Doesn’t even know that not everyone is rich and privileged like him,” said another user.
However, Akshay fans soon jumped to his rescue, supporting the actor for his statement, stating that he hadn’t meant that and that he’d only asked the users to ‘die of shame’. Many fans even added that Akshay haters were at work to malign him.
All said and done, one has to agree that the Khiladi Kumar had a poor choice of words even if he only wanted to promote fitness.
