Deepika Padukone might be creating a name for herself abroad, but the actress has always been connected to her roots. Keeping in touch with her tradition, Deepika and her mother Ujjala, were spotted at the Parmartha Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh. Dressed in a simple kurta-pajama, sans make-up, the actress was photographed when she was performing the aarti on the banks of the Ganges.

The ashram that is located on the banks of the river, welcomed Deepika and they even posted several photos and a video of the actress performing the Ganga aarti. Swami Chidananda Saraswati, who heads the ashram, even gifted Deepika a Rudraksha sapling.
