Shraddha Kapoor’s killer fitness routine
To get into the skin of her character in Sahoo, as a daredevil cop, the actor has been training very hard.
It’s not easy being an actress. Every role they do, requires a particular look and they undergo a tough fitness routine to achieve it. For Shraddha Kapoor, who is shooting simultaneously for three films, training for her “cop role” in the trilingual film Sahoo has been very challenging.
Maahek Nair been training Shraddha for the past four to five years. And for this film, he came up with a specific plan that enables the actor’s body to endure the kind of physical stress that her character in the film requires.
It wasn’t an easy task, the trainer informs. “Shraddha was shooting for three movies simultaneously, but Saaho and Street Dancer demanded more of physical appearance and intense shooting schedule with action packed scenes and that meant a lot of travel and some rare sleep. We focused a lot on her nutrition too, making sure that she was well hydrated as well. As far as exercise was concerned, we focused on reformer pilates and cross conditioning training patterns. But when she was really busy with her schedules, and couldn’t take out time, she trained with Resistance band and core conditioning at the vanity van. You will always find her on her toes. She works so hard,” says Maahek.
The trainer who works with her husband Praveen and trains many actors including Kartik Aaryan says, “I discuss every fortnight on the progress made by Shraddha and then plan the rest of the programme for the next 15 days.”
Maahek says there is no “one rule” for everyone to follow. It depends on person to person and their endurance levels. The character Shraddha is playing defines her body structure and her training module. “Our training programme with her is based on need of the character and the said physical appearance. When she trained her for the Saina biopic it was all about moving faster from one point to another with coordination of other muscle groups as well,” elucidates Maahek.
As for Saaho, Shraddha’s training was not too long every day. “We trained for 45 mins in the main zone, then we constantly focused every day for 20 minutes on flexibility and skills which we used for Street Dancer as well,” she informs.
Maahek says that Shraddha is one of the best students she has ever had. “You need to meet her once and you will fall in love with her. She is highly dedicated and focused,” she said.
