Will not make female-based superhero film, says Rakesh Roshan
The ace director asserted that he doesn't believe the Indian audience would accept a female superhero.
Mumbai: Rakesh Roshan, who’s officially announced ‘Krrish 4’ with Hrithik, has revealed that he’d never make a superhero film with a female protagonist.
“If I have a superhero in my film, then I can have a ‘superheroine’. I don’t think I can make a female-based film, as I believe the audience won’t accept that,” he told Hindustan Times.
However, it isn’t clear if the ace director was referring to the social construct or the financial viability of such a project.
Rakesh also said that he believes newcomers like Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Shraddha Kapoor et al. should choose their projects wisely and not fall for the illusion of easy stardom.
“Newcomers wish to become stars overnight. Hence, they tend to take up a lot of films at once, which isn’t right,” he opined.
Rakesh is currently producing Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Kaabil,’ starring Hrithik and Yami Gautam, scheduled for a Republic Day, 2017 release.
