Rahul used to beat Pratyusha, claims actress' mother

Mumbai: Soma Banerjee, the mother of model–actress Pratyusha, who committed suicide, Tuesday said in her police complaint that her daughter’s boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh used to beat Pratyusha often and that he had lied to her about having a huge bank balance and properties.

Soma said Pratyusha was a top star before Rahul entered her life but the “very day Rahul entered her life, her life became miserable.” Pratyusha, who is famous for her role on the Balika Vadhu television serial was staying in Oshiwara area at that time but later moved to Kandivali, her mother said. Soma used to stay with her often, but when Rahul entered Pratyusha’s life, he warned her to stay away from her parents, after which Pratyusha sent her mother back to Jamshedpur, the complaint said.

Soma also told officials that Rahul had met Pratyusha at a party in Jamshedpur and they both eventually fell in love.

Rahul told Pratyusha that he had a good relationship with few political leaders and had a huge bank balance and property in Ranchi, his home town. But all these claims later turned out to be fake, due to which Pratyusha got very disheartened. But as she wanted to save her relationship with Rahul, she continued staying with him, Soma said.

A day before her death she had called her uncle and father to inform that her life was very difficult, Soma said.

According to police sources, officials also came to know that in Kandivali where Pratyusha and Rahul were staying together before, locals had once heard Pratyusha screaming after Rahul had pushed her.

Meanwhile, actor Rakhi Sawant, a close friend of Pratyusha, has said the Balika Vadhu star was “tensed” about her relationship with Rahul.

Ms Sawant on Tuesday alleged that Rahul’s ex-girlfriend had forwarded an intimate video of him and herself to Pratyusha. Ms Sawant said Pratyusha was upset because of the video, and it might have led her to commit suicide.

Meanwhile Geeta Rajpal, another of Pratyusha’s friends, has claimed that Rahul used to monitor Pratyusha’s mobile phone and every time she wanted to speak to a friend, she had to go out to make the call.

On Tuesday some actors organised a prayer meet for Pratyusha and after the meet they told the media that Rahul had physically assaulted her and she never faced financial problems.
