Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Priyanka Chopra lost her maternal grandmother Madhu Jyotsna Akhouri on June 3. She passed away in her sleep with her family by her side.
Priyanka called off all her shoots and work commitments to spend time with her family in these moments of grief. She even shared a picture of her grandmother’s last moment in Kerala. The actress wrote, “Rest in peace Nani. #Kerala #FinallyBackHome.
In a statement, Priyanka said, "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs Madhu Jyotsna Akhouri, our beloved mother and grandmother, freedom fighter, social activist, MLA, amongst other things. She was an amazing woman who lived a full life, filled with purpose and love."
Priyanka is back in Mumbai after wrapping up the schedule of her first Hollywood film ‘Baywatch’ in the US. The actress is in Mumbai for a few weeks, where she will shoot for various endorsement deals, after which she will head back to the US to begin work on her next film and the second season of her television show ‘Quantico’.
